I Don't know where to put this but I NEED HELP!

So, recently my boyfriend and I thought it would be funny to post nude pics of ourselves on this one website to screw around with the members. and then the other day I got a myspace message of someone that gave me proof that they have my information, and want to "help me prevent the spread of my pictures to my family and friends" now I can't tell if their Phishing for more information but they definitely know my family has myspaces and my father has one as well.

I have the myspace ID that messaged this to me and was wondering if anyone could help me get their email and maybe some kind of address or phone number so I can contact the police and persue legal action against this person. Please I'm really scared and I need some help, I'm about to give up on everything. ='(

Well you can report the pictures to an admin. Most sites have a peice in the terms that can stop people uploading pictures that involve images of you without your consant. So read the terms and see if it covers it.

If you really need those pictures taken down (if the mod doesn't take it down of course), they may be a need for taking this case to court as to track the person who used the myspace to balckmail you. I believe he/she can be charged under the Data Protection Act for somehow getting your personal information. Don't let this incident ruin your life. Also get your ISP to track him and maybe alert the police.

well by taking him to court you are really pushing it. normaly if you ask the mods to take it down and have a valid reason and proof that the picturse are of you.
if that doesnt work you may want to talk to the person that uploaded them. if they refuse to take them down threaten them with legal action, that should shake them up enough to take them down. if that doesnt work its time to get serious, get a lawyer and go to that persons house. theyl be scared enough now to take them down.

Depending on your age you could have them removed without a problem. Then if he were to hold on to them he would be charged with a sex offense if he released them to your friends or family.

As far as your family finding out: Serves you right for being stupid. Don't do things you would be ashamed to tell your mother about.

well for all we know he could be part of some anti-predator group, but personally i highly doubt that
he came across as too creepy

before i say anything i will say that i am the son of two NYC detectives, and know a lot more that are friends of the family, so i have a lot of experience dealing with cops and have heard MANY stories (also have taken a few criminal justice courses)
now by no means am i an expert in law, but im just saying ive heard too many stories that have gone bad, so while some might view my point of view as not very practical im just letting you know where it is coming from

first thing i would do is confess everything to your immediate family (the ones hes threatening you with, but DONT tell him you did this) trust me its better for you to tell them then him carry through with his threat. Also in the circumstances im going to assume that they would act like any normal family would and let it go as they will be more worried about your safety. Go with them to the police, and unless you live in a large city i would go to your state troopers office or even the closest FBI office (i'm hazy on internet predators in the eyes of the law, one professor said its prosecuted in the state where the predator is because that was where intent to do harm was, another said he thought it was federal if communication crossed state lines, either way one office will point you to the right one) as i find most small town police offices have VERY little experience dealing with any internet crimes. When you get there explain the entire situation to them, tell them he has your personal information and you are afraid. Depending on what the other letters say they might try and brush it off, saying its not enough and he doesnt seem to be a threat. BE PERSISTENT!
also while this is going on you need to be careful because if he is a predator you have no idea what could set him off
ignoring him could upset him, or if you do communicate back somehow he might become frustrated when you dont want to meet him, or sense your hesitation (i know its a double edged sword and neither option looks good)
also be alert, be suspicious of a friend texting you from a number you dont recognize saying "im using a friends phone" or something to that effect.
it will be a very scary experience, and im sure you've learned a lesson
but if you stay smart, and keep persisting with the police you should be ok
