Finding website directories

Is there a way to find a list of the directories in a website? I know that it is possible to find them by sifting through the page source, but what if there is a directory that is there but not used by the pages that you can find???

Since i dont know what you want to do with it i wont put up the disclaimer. Try messing round with the url. Its usualy something simple

Try every filename possible. It'll take "some" time, but you will sure get a good knowledge of the websites directory!

If it is/was a public site I'd do searches at google:

• site:example.com
• site:example.com "Index of"

and a search at archive.org

That should turn up any directories that were even briefly available publicly and may shed some light onto its current structure.
