It would be interesting to see if it CAN be done in VB6. :)

I completed this with a bash script (bash+curl+sed+imagemagick).
It took about 70 lines of code (most of it was web-login and morse decoding) AND there is no loop structure in it.
sed rulz :D

Cheers,

(p.s: i wonder how long I'll be able to go on with just bash. But it certainly is a useful tool. ;) )

For those who are struck at this mission..here are some easy step(showing what i did)..

 Wrote a small code in PHP to calculate the Morse from the PNG image
 Secondly convert the Morse by reading the array and storing the ASCII codes into another array.
 Open a text file to write the each character of the array storing ASCII character (our encoded message).

From my method i have to manually save the image to the HDD.Run the program.Copy the password from the text file and pasting it as the answer & clicking submit. For this 15 seconds is the exact time..

Remember that if you clicked submit at (>= 3 seconds) than only you will get a "mission completed" message otherwise you may be .8 to .9 seconds late.(Assuming that your encoded message is correctly decoded).

lol i made this in vb6 it was easy and fun, in fact, i have made prog 1, 2, 11 in vb6, and working on 9,7 also in vb6

edit: about if it can be done in vb, i think all the prog challenges can be done in vb6 (it won't be the faster way; maybe you get a lot of overflow errors  , but if you persevere it it will do work), all you need is imagination!

Get PIL (Python image library) and pycurl. Download the image with pycurl and parse it with PIL.

If you have any specific questions you can pm me.

For those interested, this is quite possible to achieve using Javascript and Canvas' .drawImage and .getImageData methods.

After you have your script worked out, you can run it using Firebug, Greasemonkey, etc.

The part I found most frustrating (like plenty of others it seems) was getting what looked like a real answer, though being told it was incorrect.

I can assure you the pixels are zero indexed, though it was how I was determining the distance between pixels that was giving me the incorrect answer. Furthermore, it seems the answer can be either uppercase or lowercase.

... and for some recommended reading regarding OCR using javascript and canvas: http://ejohn.org/blog/ocr-and-neural-ne ... avascript/

note to mods: if this post is too revealing, please edit as you see fit

urllib[2] is perfectly capable of handling file downloads, and it is built-in to Python.
