Ok... I am a linux user so I already know what most of the basic commands are.

I figured out how to list the files.
I then tried to list the file's contents with one of the most basic commands.
Unfortunately, instead of getting what I needed I only get a calender.

I tried doing something similar on my computer by running the same commands and it work fine.

What am I doing wrong?

I know how to find the files names and how to use multiple codes but I don't understand how to read the files. I can't find the right Unix command.

All you need to use is...the command that lists the files...um...and when you press the button that gives you the calendar, it's actually the UNIX command, like....it's hard to explain, when you press the button, it does the command for you, you just need to insert the inside command without the actual command...

Challenge 7

Post by Shino336 on Mon Nov 24, 2008 5:40 pm
([msg=15400]see Challenge 7[/msg])

Ok, I can't post in the acual challenge 7 place (no idea why... probley something about me being new) so I'm posting here. I do not understand Unix, and I was wondering if someone knew of a site that would teach me the unix code I need to know for this challenge. I didn't understand the hints people gave in the challenge 7 stuff, so if you refrence to that without explaining more... I probley won't get it.

Also, what's the calender got to do with anything? I mean, it must have something to do with the challenge... but I still don't get it.

Thanks in advance,

Eventually got the thing I had to type into the year box that did the cal command.

1337 && ls or something like that. I don't understand where you get this << from.

I know ls is UNIX to show directory files but does the year have to be 1337?

HELP !
Stupid questions doesn't mean that there bad questions -- it just means that there easier to answer.

http://www.computerhope.com/unix has all the basic fundamentals to start in understanding unix commands. Look through the list of commands and see what might be useful to display the hidden documents for this challenge. When you find out the correct command it's actually quite simple from there.
