Do you have SpyBot-S&D installed or some anti-virus? I recommend AVG Free Edition. Another thing you could try is download the latest image of Knoppix (knoppix.com) and burn it to a CD, then load it on boot, use f-prot to scan your computer for viruses - there's also a Knoppix hack called Bluescreen Knoppix (http://www.l0t3k.org/linux/links/livecd/), but I haven't been able to find the image anywhere - it supposedly helps repair this kind of stuff more easily - these are live CDs so you'll need to boot from them. You know how to do that, right?

lol it sounds just like an annoying problem, its not making your system run slow is it? Or any other critical conditions? and what anti virus and/or spyware software do you have? I would say get a bootleg of spyware doctor, along with superantispyware free edition if you don't already have them. but if its not doing anything to bad to the system, im no expert but if you have windows, have a registry expert look at it, i bet he could find out whats wrong in the registry, regedit.exe will fix all the problems all you have to do is learn how to configure and see what has been placed inside of it or anything that looks suspicious, it can all be fixed there but you have to know how lol, so if you can't do any of that then if it really bothers you just reinstall :|

Try downloading Norton Antivirus. It deletes anything that even looks like a virus.

i've found that very little excapes between the fingers of mcaffe and S&D (naturally), and S&D has some advanced options pertaining to registry and cookies.......... may i also suggest keeping your registry and cookies deleted? CCleaner is a VERY useful program............. (also good for getting rid of the auto boots)

between the 3 of them i've only had a single adware, and i keep getting virtumonde (i use firefox, so no worries (i hope !)
give me knowledge or give me death

Once Norton blocked itself:
A program identifying itself as Norton Industries has attempted to block your access to a program on your system. It has been quarantined.

Nuke the hard drive.
Get Linux.
Get another computer.
Get better anti-virus software.
