My thoughts are that people would much rather see the "articles/how-to's" than play missions, they're much more useful.

But this is assuming that you're basically doing all the work yourself, if you have a team to help out, then it might not be a bad idea. Depends on your situation I guess...

I much prefer articles to missions, missions have me learn too much at once, i would enjoy a site with a profile, and a side treeview which acts as a notepad but well... how can i explain. any of you have facebook chat on your sidebar? Basically i'd like a kinda, array list on the side banner, in this list i can put whatever i want, like notes really for whenever i'm hacking (doing missions) these notes would remind me of the steps, techniques and probably can even link me too articles for techniques incase i forget... However as well as this i would enjoy it being in a frame instead so that way i can bookmark it and load it onto my sidebar to use on any site.

As for staff, you definitely need staff, websites are complex and annoying to produce, as a perfectionist and programmer i am never happy with the CSS and after a while just give up with the only thing to give in as ICT work being a website with scribbles all over it. :P

In my opinion, when I first started out(and still do), I read for hours on end about computer security, programming, graphics design, etc etc etc. If you're looking to start an articles database, pick a target. Collect a wide variety of well-written articles from experienced people. If you had a fair collection of articles, or just a few that would be of interest, I would surely come visit, and possibly make an account.

Many people also make their first judgment on aesthetics. If it doesn't look appealing, many users will just return to their world-domination search engine by hitting the back button. If you aren't good at graphic or website design, look for someone who is. It is key to your success.

Anyway...as with any business ask yourself: What need does it fulfill? What will make it different than all the others? Why would someone choose your site over another?

I've never ran one of these but i've been on plenty of them.

Donations: Once you get slightly more popular and people understand that you are not in it for the money.

Of course you will have free registrations. how else would you get members?

A store doesn't sound much like a good idea. And everyone starts off as a n00b so why filter them out? Most are there to learn.
a offshore host is a must for such a illegal site and a strict set of rules.

My biggest question is, what makes this 'underground'?

(my 2nd question is: linK???)

On a site that I work for, the big focus is hands-on stuff. Some of it isn't exactly the most legal in the world, but a lot of money has been spent on purchasing different types of equipment to make realistic. That's not something you see every day. But doing something like that takes forever to set up, and you need a bit of a budget.

And noob filters are a must.

"n00b filters are a must."

why? everyone has to starts somewhere. if every hacking site had n00b filters then eventually there wouldn't be any hackers.

Also, what would you call the site?

Having noob filters with restrictions also stops bots and things like 'Cheap viagra pharmacuticles' etc etc
