HTS IRC and CBL

Currently, I cannot connect to IRC because my IP (provided by Verizon) was listed in CBL.
Code: Select all
http://cbl.abuseat.org/lookup.cgi?ip=76.27.215.47

I requested delisting and they removed it although IRC still won't recognize this. According to CBL, it is against their recommendation to use it for IRC.
Items 2 & 7:
Code: Select all
http://cbl.abuseat.org/tandc.html

Currently, HTS' IRC is conflicting with #7 as it does display CBL as a reason for error.

I would suggest HTS ceases it's use of CBL with the IRC.

There... I just DDoS'd the CBL Server, can you connect now?

I agree with fashizzlepop though, CBL does not really support IRC and it may not be the best method of IP blacklisting. Instead, maybe consider your own IP whitelisting program, and only allowed whitelisted connections. An IP could be whitelisted as easily as dropping HTS user logons into a database. Hell you could tie site users directly into IRC and vice versa.

One time while using hotel wifi I had the exact same problem - why we're using a list intended for email filtering is beyond me. However, delisting and waiting an hour or two for the list to update should fix the problem.

Yes, the problem is easily temporarily fixed, but it is still inconvenient.
