I think we need a tutorial for idiot morons like me with no idea how to do basic mission one without somebody showing them, though I could do it now.

In fact, we really really could use an official tutorial for this. Right now we have missions that help you learn, but without any idea of how to do it, you never get any idea. I want to be able to hack websites ad such, but I can't do it because I honestly don't know how!

If we converted the basic missions into a tutorial setup, or kept them and created a tutorial that shows us how to do these that's very like the basic missions (I didn't know to press Control-U to open the HTML code before my brother told me to, for example) it would help a lot of newbies.

Just add in lessons that cover a lot of the basics, such as how to create a cookie stealer, SQL injections, editing HTML codes and how to use other scripts to accomplish things, we'd have a lot more good hackers. I'm dedicated enough, I think, to learn all this, but nobody in my family really knows how.

The header is way too long. Remove "Hack This Site - Forums Index". Make the logo link to the main hackthissite.org website. Change the logo to have a black background. Move the "[Advertise With HackThisSite.org]" link to the right of the banner. Putting the banner on the bottom of the page would be nice of course but that is your funding so I wont argue.

Ok, here's an idea.
Big tutorial for newbies: starts off saying "here are a load of links, go learn HTML and JavaScript". Then, once they have said they're done there's a quiz and you need to pass by a certain amount to get into the basic and JavaScript missions. This hopefully should reduce the number of people who just use spoilers and should teach those who want to learn. I would be happy over the summer to work on a basic tutorial for HTML and JavaScript - all they need for understanding the source and inline JS etc.
Then it'll teach them various techniques.

There will always be those who just want to get the points. However, I get the feeling that some people look for help (not spoilers) then find a spoiler and think "oh what the hell" and enter the answer.
If all the info. is on the website, or linked from the website, then it should stop the above from happening.
What d'ya think?

I know the site needs funding, because none of us want HTS to go broke, but you know those little things that highlight the text and pop up some weird ad whenever it is highlighted. Well I have dial-up, so this slows down the page considerably. I wonder how many words in this post right here have those advertisment highlights.

If so, thats irony.

Those "highlights" are inline ads. We all get them.
