It depends on what do you know already, and what do you want to learn.
And please don't answer like this: "I know nothing, but I want to know how to H4CK!". You could post here, so you must know something already ;)

Ok well lets try and steer him in the right direction. What about computers peeks your interest?
Do you like the design of websites?
The roar of a dual core processor?
Or simply the elegance of how a program achieves a ask for you.

Once you figure out what you might be interested in we can help you

Well for the complete new person in your life, I have three suggestions:

My personal favorite as a complete new person was always The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It tells the story of a very hungry caterpillar (go figure) whose appetite increases daily. He starts out eating fruits and vegetables, but eventually he eats a bunch of junk food. This makes him sick, so the next day he eats a single leaf and feels better. In the last few pages, he turns into a butterfly. This story teaches children (aka "complete new people") about the values of eating healthy food, and the dangers of eating too many sweets.

Another good story/series for complete new people is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Fish. It's a 6-book series that teaches children various skills such as being humble, accepting others, and dealing with fears. The shiny pictures are fun for the complete new people (or other low-intelligence individuals), and the morals instilled will help them later in life.

For bedtime stories, I would recommend http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodnight_Moon. This is a story about a bunny's bedtime ritual of saying goodnight to everything in the room (OCD much?). The book's use of rhyme and rhythm stimulates the child's mind, and the illustrations are fun to look at. For example, the astute observer can notice several subtle changes throughout the book such as a cat and mouse playing/hiding, and the slow progression of the moon and clock.

Sorry, that was just too good to pass up.

Seriously though, I'd start out with a good programming book/tutorial. Learn Python or something. This will teach you something practical you can use, while at the same time introducing you to computer concepts such as Input/Output and file manipulation. But really just read whatever interests you, and read a lot of it.
Assume that everything I say is or could be a lie.

well first i want to learn the language... I hear C or C++ is the most popular.
And i dont just want to H4CK.... I want to learn programming and just get a good start on the computer. I know basic computer skills but im definately not as good as i want to be.. the ultimate goal is to be able to hack and understand the language.. i dont want to just use other peoples exploits. i want to create my own and Im just asking if you guys have any really good books or ideas. i dont want to buy a moronic book that wont help me at all

hell dude. im even looking for a coach of some sort. I dont want to be one of those kids that "thinks" they can hack wen all they do is use other peoples programs. i want to understand the programs and also be able to make my own... not just claim other peoples knowledge
