The Basics of Hacking and Penetration Testing

Post by nigelpurc on Fri Sep 28, 2012 9:41 pm
([msg=69777]see The Basics of Hacking and Penetration Testing[/msg])

I just picked up The Basics of Hacking and Penetration Testing by Patrick Engebretson, it from a series called syngress or some junk. I read it, tried out some of the tools it explained, but being my first book specifically about hacking I didn't know what to make of it. It seemed pretty general, just like these are the steps to "hacking" and these are the tools to do so. Like I said I don't know what to make of it. I was wondering if maybe someone with a little more knowledge that is familiar with the book and better with computer could let me know whether its a keeper.
They sent me to be a ring leader, but I just joined the circus.

I am not familiar with the book, but I do know this.
Read everything you can, it can only help.
It's not going to hurt you at all.
If you're not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you're determined to learn, no one can stop you.⠠⠵

I can explain it for you, but I can't understand it for you.

lmao, I didn't even notice until I read your post.

The problem with diving right into hacking and using tools for pen testing without much working knowledge of programming, networking etc... is that you are left with that feeling that computer magic is still going on. I suggest while you're reading that book you pick up another subject such as a programming language or networking so eventually they converge and something will click.

Yeah definitely making out...but I like to look at it not like a real dog/werewolf, but like a metaphor...you know not supporting actual bestiality, but some ragged individual a dog/werewolf. But its how you interpret it I guess.

Yup, werewolf sex is kinda cool. Homosexuality on the other hand, that's just not natural.
