If you're getting the messages from HTS after you connect to irc then you will be able to join the channel. Type something in the channel and wait for someone to reply. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_q ... xchat&aq=f

Yeah the orchestra is very active in the evenings usually. The trolling problem is an issue though to say the least. The only advice I can offer is to just idle a bit before you speak. Get a feel for who the trolls are and who the contributing members are.

I can't connect thru the SSL ports 6697 or 7000. Is there anything else I can use?

You should be able to.. What client are you using?
I myself am connected through 6697 as I am writing this. In xchat, i think there's an option to allow invalid SSL certificates, you may need to check that.

Is there a free version and a paid version? Apparently I had some kind of evaluation version.

Actually, now that i think of it, I'm pretty sure there may be a free and paid version. But i'm extremely lazy and I don't want to check at the moment.. If i remember correctly, when you set it up, you may have to choose a free version. For some reason, I remember something being called Y-chat. Maybe that was it. But don't hold it to me.

xChat for windows is not free. You get a 30 day eval. For linux it is. I'd suggest ChatZilla as an Fx addon for windows.
The glass is neither half-full nor half-empty; it's merely twice as big as it needs to be.

Any reason why I can't connect to the IRC when I'm connected thru HotSpot Shield?
