How did you get started?

Hello, I'm back again. I took a break from learning to hack for a while because I was:
1. Focusing on finishing my first novel (yay)
2. Depression. I got really depressed and I needed to get through that.
3. Finances. I want to save up money to buy some programming books and what not to really study hacking. I still haven't bought any yet, but hey, this is what the internet is for, right?
Anyways, enough of my ranting. I made this thread to ask you guys (The pro hackers) what first got you introduced into hacking. No one just wakes up and is like, "Oh, I want to hack." So what is your reason? I thought that this would be an interesting way to get some BK.

My uncle inspired me. When I was around 10 years old I heard a story about him that inspired me. The story was that he hacked into the NSA, and the next day he got V&. He took out his hard drive and a couple others parts and threw them into a sink full of water, making them corrupt. They had suspicions, but no proof.
I have no idea if it was just a story, or a real event; I heard it from a few family members. This inspired me to learn, and show him what I could do.
