I have a question regarding profiles on sites

I apologize if this sounds like a script kiddie type of question but i promise it's not my intent. I was always curious about this but is it possible to find someones IP through their profile? believe me i don't mean on this site cuz i'd just get counterhacked but i mean like other sites. A site that i'm on has people doing illegal things and i always threaten to track them down and call the police but is it even possible? people usually stop when i threaten them but what if they dont? can i get the IP address from where they logged in?

Completely depends on the site, how the site handles server connections, how the site logs information, and how much access you have to that information. In short, I doubt you'll be getting anyone's IP address from another site.

For me however.... HTS lays out your IP address ever so easily in a nice and orderly manner. Their site might not.

How about some nice Social Engineering to get them to email you? Unless they're using Gmail, emails sent include IP-addresses in the header information.

The thing about social engineering is that it is one hundred percent situation dependent. How you handle and react to things depends on how your subjects handle and react to things. So you have to know what they 'want' in order to get them to do what you want. I would suggest doin some research on social engineering. If your end goal is to get user's IP address, then realistically that's pretty easy.
If you have a webserver set up, you can simply post a link to a page on your website and log users' IP's like that. There's more effective ways obviously, but that's about as simple as it gets.

facebook chat is still p2p, just get them to chat with you and watch your netstat. Also, doxing could be effective.. a profile leaves so much more information than just an IP.

The trick to that is to reduce actively running processes and other windows, lots of IP data getting tossed around so eliminate as much as possible, then take a baseline (prnt scrn or just note on paper), then start your session, note new IP's then traceroute them. By process of elimination you can determine which is a person.

Why not just filter by PID? Using "netstat -ano" or "netstat -b" will usually give the right results. Only 'Established' connections have to be used and on the task manager all you have to do is enable PID column to easily see which process uses what.

Again, why not just use "netstat >> %userprofile%\Desktop\output.txt"?

No reason, your suggestions are definitely an improvement. I don't find myself on the windows command line that often.
