I'm interested in dual booting my Windows 7 laptop with Ubuntu, My 250Gb hard drive isn't the biggest, but I feel it could be fair enough for this. I was wondering how big of a partition I need so when I install Ubuntu it has enough space.

The beauty of Linux is that it can be installed with a very small footprint. I'd say anything over 40G should be fine, allowing room for updates and installations. That's just a rough estimate though; I rarely pay attention to disk space anymore.

Haha, thank you. I actually think that I might just use VMware because I feel it'll be easier if I run it from an external hard drive, then if I do anything on that I can take it anywhere if I need to because I help my friends with a lot of computer stuff and I have a lot of files on that drive anyway.
