How can I learn web design? What is needed?

I learned everything from http://w3schools.com and either Notepad or Notepad ++

the great thing about programming is that just about everything can be answered by google... or a knowledgeable community like this

I have to vote for w3schools also.
I like Gedit for coding... I sometimes boot up windows so i can run dreamweaver and get auto complete... (yes i know i can get it to run on ubuntu)

if you want to learn more about web design go to this site www.w3schools.com and download all application that you need to your web designing like Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Flash.......
