A good CMS?

I am going to make my own website but i do not know what content management system i shoot use.
What good, easy and safe open source content management system do you recommend and why?
I need a cms that is lite and runs on PHP.
Any help is very appreciated.

I say if you are new to coding websites make your own. It doesnt have to be pretty at first just try and make it secure. That's prolly the best way to go. That way you also learn more PHP. And you dont need to use SQL db's if you need. PM if you need a push in the right direction. (main site PM I dont like the forums PM)

I am not new to PHP. I have actually written quite a few websites for my job. These websites have there own cms that i helped build, however it is the intellectual property of the company so i can't use that.
You see it is not for my job and i am a busy man so i would like a open source cms.
I like SilverStripe, however i would like to know if there are better options out there.

A good one I've heard of and seen examples of is ExpressionEngine, although I've never used it myself.

the server code taht this site uses is called apache, you could try that, and also i seen gnix ones (or something like that), i haven't tried them myself but........

and myspace uses microsoft IIS/6.0

some really good CMS's that i've used on various community related projects include:

DragonflyCMS (Very powerful, secure, updated, and supported)
MemHT (Design supports unlimited amounts of projects)

and a friend of mine developed a barebones CMS that has News, User Registration, Ranks, and file management... im not sure what its called but if you just want a backbone to code on top of without all the features that more powerful CMS's have, i'd search for this one.

i'd say it could be found on sourceforge maybe under the username Mediator...

You could use one of the many cms's such as joomla, wordpress, Drupal, code Igniter. The list is endless. Google it.
