i changed it to a very high number and get to a blank page....just the normal hackthissite.org layout with the menu on the left and stuff but nothing in it. (yes, i changed the value, not just the text)

That's odd.

It *seems* to work for me, but it gives me the "You've already completed this" regardless of what I vote, so it's hard to tell.
I'd just be happy that you do know how to do it, and forget about the points ... it *is* only 20 :-D

Go on to Realistic 3 and come back to this every now and then, see if it randomly works.

Just re-done this mission (without add-ons.) and it seem to be working fine...

I get the usual "you have already completed this mission" message. Try doing it without firebug or data tamper.

If you know how to edit HTML source and have some basic knowledge of PHP forms you don't need any add-ons, just a simple text editor.

im extremely lost. i went ahead and downloaded firebug, and opened it on uncle arnolds page. but when i click on the source tab, it wont even let me edit it there. also, im not sure as to what to edit in the URL or if i need to even edit anything. i tried it on IE, saved it as html, and re opened it, and it gave me the option of voting "10000" but when i click it it just brings up a page that says the path isnt right.

some help is appreciated, or a PM with a big hint. thanks!

1) Firebug doesn't edit the source (as in "view source") it edits the page in front of you.
Click the firebug icon, then "Inspect" then click on the object to edit.
A frame should open at the bottom letting you change things.

2) If you a) had a clue / b) read the ENTIRE error message, you might have noticed it saying that it can't find c:\documents and settings\...\*.php

I wonder why ... you have to vote on the site, and not on your local PC!
Ever considered learning HTML/the first thing about the internet for these challenges?

Look up the difference between relative and absolute paths.
