i'm attempting to complete this with vanilla firefox only. Without trying to spoiler other noobs with my method, I will say I can only change the 'value' of the 'vote' with certain techniques involving my address bar between the values of 1 and 5.... what am i doing wrong?

If you are doing this mission from your address bar, make sure you have your syntax correct.
It may help you to view your page source, get a good look at the ID's among other things and notice how it interacts with the URL at times.

I can't give anymore information without giving away to much information.

Eventually did it your way, Ninjex. I simply could not get it to work by injection.
What's funny is it still took me a bit, trying to piece the right syntax together, and i swear I had it right the whole time, and still failed. It wasn't until I shut off my internet connection that I made any progress, and it looked exactly like what I had typed in. piece of junk challenge... *grumble*

I'm not going to pretend that I read the entire forum, so if someone else has already asked this question, my apologies. I use Google Chrome, and I am reluctant to download Firefox. Am I capable of completing this mission by using the "Inspect element" function in Chrome, or will I have to do it some other way? If I do, then what might that way be? Thanks a lot!

I've spent alot of time on this so far, and I think that I am doing it correct, however whenever I submit my vote I'm brought back to hackthissite and I'm logged out with an error saying "ERROR!" "require_auth".

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I'm not an expert at this, but I do have a good understanding of html and javascript, and enough knowledge of php to see how this works.

Any help would be appreciated.

I use Opera, I had the same problem, at first I thought i was in the wrong path, I tried several things without success, but after have seeing your post I've just realized probably I screwed up the cache of that page for my browser (probably when I was playing with cookies); so I opened a private (anonymous) guide in Google Chrome, logged in the site and solved it without any problem.

MS-Word is probably a really bad idea. It saves files in .doc by default. Try using something like Notepadd++ or simply Notepad.
