Determinism, Sadly. We are inspired to make choices during pass experiences, with our environment and each other. Of course, that doesn't mean you have to believe in destiny. Determinism is the influence that drives our free wills into making choices. Simply an Input/Output, where inputs influenced by past outputs, and it's in a never ending loop.

Your actions may be influenced by your experiences but determinism dictates that all your actions, as well as everyone else's, past and future were predetermined, eons ago by some cosmic force.

There are too many variables in life for that too be possible.

My personal belief is that all things are deterministic except for thought and all actions taken upon thought. In other words there are certain physics rules that are true no matter what but your hand moves because you want it to not because there is some rule for how thought works (though there are generalities called psychology)

I definitely believe that our actions are a combination of both. While all people have certain tendencies or natural reactions based on their genetics and environment, people will always be able to make the other choice if they so choose. I mean, certain mental illness can limit the role of free will in one's life, but I still believe it exists. Besides, doesn't it seem pointless to even live your life if you have no choices? You might as well just give up on everything, because 'that's what would've happened anyway.'

Chemical reactions vs. freewill vs. determinism

Chemical reactions is what I'd go with; we're all just chemical reactions. For example, adaption occurs when only certain types of animals can survive so they survive and the weak die. The chemical reactions in our bodies have survived, so they will continue to survive because they've had time to "adapt". Cause and effect is what I am leaning towards actually. The chances of "life" happening are about 1 to (error not enough space), but mix those possibilities with a time-line of possible infinity, making "everything is possible" valid.

Why do animals give birth to animals?
Because animals that could give birth to their own-kind lived on, all the "others" died.

Well so far from my experiences I've found that even when I have made poorer decisions I still end up where it seems like I was suppose to be. So I would have to go with determinism.
