Catch-22, almost. The public (generally, not everyone) is causing itself the problem because it's addicted to athletics, music, and such will pay and when a lot of people pay, there's a lot of profit. Of course, being a regular in the workforce does not merit for many payments, as there's more of the regulars then there are athletes, musicians, and such. Believe me, if America was truly downgraded and in a huge fiscal meltdown, the athletes and musicians wouldn't exist as no one can spare money to go see them. They live on the fact that the world is luxurious and advanced and fiscally secure enough that they can use their "non-sustinence" related talents to make a living.
