Upgrades? Dell Inspiron 1300?

My dad recently gave me his old Dell Inspiron 1300 which is good because Ive been running on the family computer for too long but Its not in really good shape. I went to a computer shop and the guy said you can't upgrade it. I was wondering if there was any way I could upgrade any of its parts and for how much? I want to be able to use it to play games, program, use it for school and business applications, learn programming languages, surf the web and run software (mainly Adobe Creative Suite)

Specs:
Dell Inspiron 1300
Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.60 GHz
Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Chipset Family <= terrible...
1015 MB RAM
71.4 GB Hard drive
Windows Vista Home Premium

Can anyone give me tips on how to improve this notebook? Thanks.

Put Linux on it
No, I know, you need Adobe CS..

I'd boot in safemode and then virus scan (Avast ftw!), registry cleanup, systems internals etc.
Then remove all the crap that you don't need. Perhaps even format and start clean?

Hardware wise, add more memory? The hardware shop are talking shit, you can upgrade it.
Consider replacing the processor too, but I'm not sure how easy that'd be.
