The onion routing problem

Hello,

I've just installed TOR. I'm using Firefox so i downloaded Torbutton too. Everything seems to be working but when i open firefox it says in the bottom-right that firefox isn't working in the color red. The TOR detector also says that it is not working. I'm pretty sure it is installed correctly and everything is started and enabled. Does anyone knows what it could be?

Many thanks

Are you using Linux, or Windows? Make sure the TOR service is running, or better yet, restart it.

Make sure Torbutton doesn't say "Disabled", if it does, just click on it to turn tor on for firefox.

Firefox and any number of its extensions bypass Tor for DNS requests which ruin anonymity :(
I think you need privoxy and/or cryptcat? to sit between the two or try OperaTor :)
