Personal Issue

([msg=72685]see Personal Issue[/msg])

O.k., first I am not asking anyone to do anything wrong with this request. However, just to point me in the right direction, and let me fly like an ox.

About two days ago I got a call from a strange number. The "person" said (s)he was from WN Positions, and they were inquiring about a survey I "filled out". The voice took about 5 seconds to answer, so I knew it wasn't legit, but just wanted to see what they were about. Didn't ask for much personal information, but still worrysome. I started tracking down where the number came from, and found a lot of information just by searching the number. Come to find out it is a phisher calling people asking for personal information. I have everything but the name, and house number, and (s)he is using a cell phone. Found that out through 411. Any ideas of how I might trangulate their position via the cell phone? Again, not asking for anyone to do anything illegal, I am not going to do anything illegal, just want to post the information EVERYWHERE so people know who is doing this.

Thanks for reading,

I've worked on a couple of jobs like this. Tracking a phone is a lot of work. Partly because it requires you to gain access to it first or trick them into installing tracking software on the phone themselves. This is dangerous for a couple of reasons. Due to the illegal activity that they are likely involved in if the police were to get involved you yourself and then involved and would have a lot of explaining to do once they see what you have done. There are other ways to track down location. Either you realize this or not you are currently doxing this person/group. You can go about this a couple of different ways:
You could keep off the radar and pull whatever you can from public access;
SE them to trick into giving more information;
Flat out turn them into the police (wont really work unless you have a lot of info);
Start spamming what you have on tracker websites that keep numbers like this on tabs for public warning.

Let us help you out. Tell us what you have so far and we'll do some digging for you.

O.k. the Fake company he is posing as is WN Positions

The phone number is (240) 389-0854

Located in Ashton 236, MD. 20681

Which is in Montgomery County

Cell phone

The line use to be tied to ATX Telecommunications Services, LTD (Which went out of business long ago)

The rest is unavailable to me without paying.

The options that you posed I have tried a few. I got all the information through public searches, tried talking to the cops, and they said there wasn't enough information to do anything (sucks). Didn't think to try and trick them into telling me more information. Hindsight is a bitch. Should have asked some personal questions back to them. Oh well. As for telling people about them, was planning on doing this, just wanted some personal information from them. :)

Thank you for the offer of help. I was hopeing someone would.

Unfortunately I'll have to put this on pause till tomorrow night. I just finished up the other dox by request. Quick look though I already have some juicy information. Also OP, to 411 a number like that. Good idea. I'll have to try that! +1

Something I have done to people is that if you can guess their pin, you can spoof the call. Spoof your number to their number, and then call it. If you can guess the pin, you can access the voicebox, may be helpful but I'm not sure :shock:

Haha, I can't believe people still use IE. Wasn't there just a big zero day in their browser too?
The worst part is that you know anyone using IE in 2013 is going to have terrible security anyways.
