Not sure why this doesn't look familiar.

Anyone know what console / terminal is running on that laptop?

Maybe a linux distro with a custom terminal session organizer?

It doesn't look like a terminal/console, instead, it looks more like an IDE with a dark theme on it (note overly large borders, and the things that look like buttons up at the top bar).

Looks like it might be vim. It's almost impossible to tell from the quality of that picture though.

And of course... assume your grandmother is not Ada Lovelace.

IDE or text editor(nano?). I agree though, it's basically impossible to tell anything more than that with the quality HD picture. Looks like the person is just waking up after a night of coding and drinking. Doesn't look like Windows. I don't see a task bar or the 3 buttons in the top right corner of the window.

It's a macbook air. Did some checking and it' not photoshopped on (besides the text on the original image).

Original Image - Not the OP image.
Error Level - No rainbowing or highlighted areas. Light levels normal. Conclusion not shopped.

The image you copied is pulled from a twitter feed that links the article. Image also shows up in several other places. One of which I learned that "American's are training hacker spies." lol. No luck in comments from people asking nearly the same question. My guess is a text editor and they played with the colors.
