Hacking Understanding.

([msg=70187]see Hacking Understanding.[/msg])

Hello as you can see my nickname is Eyes-Ony for various reasons. I've reviewed a couple of threads with a mild relative interest to them, mostly in regards to the help that a user might receive here. I have not exactly scrolled through the ToS but given what I've reviewed I can see some things aren't allowed here, that being said I won't be asking for help hacking specifically, but more on how I would either go about a matter of hacking a certain thing or if I could be taught the correct methods or series of methods to achieve such a hack. I am noting that it is very possible that this is illegal, but it doesn't change the fact that it's something I want to learn.

I have recently been looking into ways to bypass surveys and the ways that I've found have not been helpful at all, and to be honest I've gotten quite lazy about the entire process of sifting through countless surveys to get the download while wiping out and preventing viruses from raping my computer. While researching ways to bypass surveys, with a growing annoyance to the whole process I came across another thing that I felt necessary for me to know, and that was how to crack or recover WinRar based passwords. I wouldn't say that I have the broadest idea on how to achieve either of these, so in spite of that lack of an idea on the process of achieving these two desires by hacking, I've decided to come here to gain an idea.

I have an interest in programming, as well as hacking, but my natural interest lay in science, preferably physics, quantum physics, and theoretical science, given this last bit of information specifically theoretical science I would think it's easier to start there since it's the part my thought processing that seems to be the most active. I do have many other interest and one can feel free to ask about these interest, I also have average achievements for someone who is not that great of a hacker or a virus buster, but I'd like to think I've achieved much without programmed protection and such. I'm only asking for what I consider to be simple help, I don't want anyone to hack for me I want to learn this so I don't have to buy unnecessary things especially when I know that what I want can be achieved through other means.

Edit.
To outline the research I've done in regards to the problems I've run into mostly involved researching survey bypassing and the tools to achieve such a goal. I've come across some successful survey removers but they don't help my problem at all, I do consider this place sort of a last resort, but the most promising in regards to achieving what I want. I have more than an interest in just this specific goal in hacking, it is simply that this goal is what I'm choosing to deal with right now and I can see the promising points in having the information to achieve this goal.

([msg=70190]see Re: Hacking Understanding.[/msg])

To do it manually you could probably do some cross-site request forgery to make it appear as though you completed the survey. Or just by looking at the source you might be able to find the url of the actual page you want to view or file your wanting to download. This is what you would probably want to try if your interested in the hacking aspect of this.

However if you just find surveys annoying and want to get rid of them the easiest thing to do is just try installing adblock plus and noscript extensions in firefox. They should block most surveys or at least the annoying pop-up ones.

WinRar passwords should be vulnerable to brute force and dictionary attacks. I know there are lots of tools for this online that you could download but most of then probably install adware or possibly malware with them. I dont know of any that I could reccomend, so if you decide to use one of them I would do some research on it and read some reviews before downloading. If you know some programing though it should be fairly easy to write something to brute-force or dictionary attack the WinRars files with. Download a tool to open them like unRar(windows) http://www.rarlab.com, and write a script to run unRar looping through trying different password combinations.

([msg=70191]see Re: Hacking Understanding.[/msg])

The Source didn't reveal to me the program location I could just be a failure at source reading. As for WinRar's susceptibility to brute force and dictionary based attacks, I thought those methods were quite slow in reference but than who am I to argue the speed of getting what I want, there is a little thing called patience and I usually have a lot of it, but having dealt with this problem for a while I'd think I'm warranted a little impatience. To be totally clear it's not the surveys I find annoying it's the inhibition of access to wanted files and such having to go through a survey to get a program, than going through another just to get the password,than going through another to get an update..it is quite frustrating especially when the survey's don't always happen to work. That isn't to mention that I've had to switch computers because my other Laptop's battery failed on me when originally I had a charger issue now, it fails constantly so I'm on an old Dell laptop of which I hate because..lets face it..Dell makes their items so cheap yet expensive for a buyer most of their technology is condition to wear out after a year and that's just for an average user, has nothing to do with someone who takes care of their stuff. For example someone with out a job would find it difficult to maintain a great battery life for a Dell Laptop. Anyway most of my babble is beside the point, The survey downloading is my main problem, but learning to hack either the survey or Win Rar would make this goal easier but the survey hacking seems more like a wanted skill just in case I run into the need to get passed one again. (excuse the bad organizational skills and English skills, this is just my laziness in effect I will edit it within an hour or two.)

I'd advise you to get your downloads from more reputable places that won't password protect their rars. For me, if a download requires a password its automatically considered a scam. No self respecting pirate would demand people fill in surveys to get to their content, this seems to be exclusively for scammers who leech other folks content to make a quick buck.
Often in the end only serving you malware.
Also remember that there are some things that no one ever bothered to upload and all downloads of it are fake. Your time was better spent researching good places to get stuff from then trying to circumvent surveys.

If for some reason you really really need a rar cracked instead of downloading a proper version, there are fancy options out there that try to accelerate the process by using your GPU so if you have a gaming rig it could be done in a reasonable time.
(reasonable could still be extremely long but at least its shorter then using something you quickly made yourself)

TL;DR; check comments before downloading something, if forced to crack do it in a smart way.

there was a really cool download at http://www.filevarious.com/fv.php?id=12390

but the stupid surveys you had to go through to get it was complete bull and I am still trying to find a way past this stubborn survey because if you block it you don't get your download and when I was looking the the large amount of code they used to make it I could not figure out how it works

this is the code I found
Code: Select all
var closing = false;
  var http = getHTTPObject();
  var tab = '';
  var check = 1;

   function doauth() {
      if (closing == false) {
         setTimeout("doauth();", 25000);
         http.open("GET", "http://adscendmedia.com/gwchecker.php?aff=12613&sid=12390-98.112.66.69&prf=14751", true);
         http.onreadystatechange = handleHttpResponse;
         http.send(null);
      }
   }

   function handleHttpResponse() {
      if (http.readyState == 4) {
      if (http.responseText != '') {
        rslt = http.responseText;
        arr = rslt.split("||");
        if (arr[0] == '12613_14751'){
          closing = true;
          if (arr[1] == '0'){
            top.location.href = document.referrer;
          } else{
                          top.location.href = arr[1];
                        }
        }
         }
         // http.onreadystatechange = function(){};
      // http.abort();
      }
   }

   function getHTTPObject() {
      var xmlhttp;

      }
  }

and the survey blocks right clicking but by using google chromes inspect element before the survey came up then navigating for the survey code I found a link to the included survey http://adscendmedia.com/gwframe.php?aff=12613&prf=14751&sid=12390-98.112.66.69 which you can right click on

but to this day I still have not figured out how to crack this survey

No offense but just by glancing at this it looks pretty skiddish and not worth your effort. Plus you should not link to a site you don't own while expressing or implying any malicous intent.

If you dont like surveys then dont just download random crap off the internet. Chances are if you have to fill out a survey to get access to it it's prolly a scam or malware. Weekend hacker gave the best advice.

Have you explored other sources to get your files? Such as torrents etc.
