Anyone heard of this guy

youtube.com/thenewboston

I want to start learning html and css. I hear w3 is good but just reading is so hard to focus on for me. I like this guy because I can listen and take notes.

Is he less comprehensive than w3 and would it be a waste of time or is he good?

If anyone knows and can offer opinions thanks!

Not until today. Checked out a couple of videos, he seems to break things down pretty well. Not a bad find. +1

Yes, I've heard of him... He does pretty well when discussing more basic concepts, such as HTML and CSS, but fails when it comes to complex things. He also doesn't explain complex subjects well, rather, he teaches you one thing (poorly), and leaves it at that. He explained arrays with the only example being an int array, when in practice, char arrays are used more, and much more of a valuable resource.

So, should you use him as a resource for HTML and CSS? Sure, he seems to cover those fairly well. Should you use him to learn more than the basics of other languages such as C, C++, or Python? No. You would be better off reading K&R, or the docs, or just figuring it out for yourself (once you learn the basics from him).

Sup cent :D...yeah I'm back...

Thenewboston is an awesome resource for beginners to start with due to Bucky's way of explaining stuff in laymen's terms. I would suggest it for anyone who is starting up on the subject. I'd also love to take this chance to introduce http://www.codecademy.com for anyone who wants to learn programming. There was this other site teaching stuff other than JS but I can't recall the name but will post if I find it later. Once you have the basics understood, I suggest you move to w3schools or tizag for a couple of more reliable and advanced tutorials. I would also highly recommend cross referencing your knowledge among multiple sources to ensure that you have an accurate grip on the concept.

Happy learning!
