DMCA Notices

So I found out today that I had about a dozen or so DMCA notices when my ISP decided to cut me off from the free beer. I thought this might make for a decent topic of discussion; what experience do you guys have with this topic?

Did you change your online activities? Stop downloading or protect yourself?

Thought I'd bring this up and try to tie it into some of the more popular p2p 'security' programs that are designed to protect you against identification. E.g. Peerguardian, IPredator, etc.

I am curious to check how many I've gotten. Should be zero, because I'm not dumb enough to get one in the first place, but you never know.

Yeah, what happened was that they had queued up many from several months back. Had I known what was happening, probably could have cut the number down to about 3-4.

So I'm guessing you splurge on something like IPredator or something like that? Or do you just respect corporations too much to misappropriate bytes in such a way. XD

Posted something then answered it. Disregard.

It's might be unnecessary, but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

There was a point in my life where i was just like "ok, i make good money now, why the fuck am i nickel and dimming myself over all this pirated shit?" So i don't pirate shit anymore, because i can afford not to.

I'm not disillusioned though, i know exactly why i used to pirate shit, because i was broke as fuck. I've been to 3rd world countries and have witnessed first hand entire economies that are fueled almost exclusively by piracy.

I'll forever remain a piracy advocate because of my life experiences and until things drastically change.

Also, you have to be pragmatic and realize that the work done on the pirated material was not done for free.

Conclusion:
The world is fucked mostly due to monetary leashes.

To protect yourself:
Enable encryption in your torrents and the notices should stop or at least dramatically decrease

I always thought your ISP was supposed to inform you when you got those notices. As far as I know, I haven't gotten any, but it would suck royally if my ISP dropped me.
