IF i was on a site and i was looking for a users password.IF i type the users name and not the password and a message comes up saying that the password has been sent to the users email address and says the users address. IF i viewed the source woulder there be something compairing the user name and the password?

remember this is a HYPOTHETICALquestion please tell me if i'm right, wrong, or close and please explain.

The processing of data is kept server side to prevent the client from manipulating the data. If it was all client side, hacking would be a lot easier.

Even if you word it correctly most probably there is no way under normal circumstances that you are not going to see the server-side code that makes the site run. I would suggest you try our missions here to get a start and learn PHP/MySQL. It will be a lot of fun. Trust me. ;-)

Like people have said, this isn't really viable anymore.

However, I've heard of some old forums that used client-side code to generate a random "one-time" password hash if a user forget's his email. It was based on the time, but I don't remember specifics.
