Hello, found this site by accident when writing an assignment on cybercrime. I don't know anything about hacking except for the variants of hackers and what they do as well as various types of hacks. i found by writing the assignment something peeked my intrigue so I have decided to give it ago. where would be the best place to start for a complete beginner? I meant COMPLETE beginner hehe. Thanks for any advice in advance.

There are challenges here that work on web hacking. Many are very old but the ideas still apply.
As a general rule of thumb. Anyone that wants to get into this stuff should get access to a linux machine and learn python or another language.
If you’re ever going to not suck in this field, you need to be able to leverage and become competent with both.
All the tools in the world are just someone else doing the above for you
