Okay so I want to change my email address for this account, I've tried through user control panel but nothing seems to work, how is this done? Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

On the index, there is a link to 'settings'. Click that. Then change your email.
Win.

Yes under user control panel > profile > edit account settings, I already tried that username and email address are displayed along with a box asking for password confirmation of changes made but there doesn't seem to be any method to actually edit the email address, I've tried this in both I.E and chrome so I don't think it's an issue with the browser.

Actually looking at that again I can see that the email change on the front page of the site doesn't propagate to the one recorded under user control panel on these forums. That's a bit of a concern to me because the forum email address is the one I didn't want to use.

What exactly do you need to change your email on the forums for? No one can view it besides yourself.

Speaking on this alone, I think it would be nice in a future update to roll out a system where forum logins are not needed.
Simply loging into the HTS side of things would carry over for all things forum related.

It's planned. Just somewhat impractical with the current setup. Would take a lot more tweaking, that's for sure.

The ability to delete your own comments would be nice too..

Besides, once logged in to HTS the login button on forums should carry over your login from HTS. Probably using a session ID.

Spitting out some more ideas at mShred. When we had been working on that github project for the other website, two features which would be nice to carry over is: code sytax highlighting, and code popout features for code blocks. However, I believe we have limitations with the current setup and the phpBB powered forums here.
