I'm new

([msg=76225]see I'm new[/msg])

I just started white hat hacking a few weeks ago, I have a laptop that can boot to BackTrack 5 r3. I was just told about this site from a friend, that also informed me BackTrack is old school and I needed to catch up.

so here is my question; if I should be using something other then BackTrack what is it?

my laptop is

Processor--Intel Pentium CPU B940 @ 2.00 GHz
RAM--------4.00 GB
OS----------Windows 7 Home Premium/BackTrack 5 r3

You should be able to do most of the missions on this site with just a web browser, and a lot of knowledge.

If not BackTrack, go with Kali Linux

Is there a offensive security tool that is more GUI and less command line?

Backtrack and Kali are collections of tools. There are hundreds of tools that come with each OS.

right, my only complaint with BackTrack is the the command line. I wish I could find all those tools in a GUI.

First 3 *

Regardless of the fact, you are going to need to learn how to use the CLI if you plan on performing tasks more quickly and efficiently. Have you ever tried editing a text in a word list of 800 million words? Probably not, since most GUI applications would crash at this point or take so long to load up it's almost pointless. If you want a tool to be GUI based, I would suggest trying to create them on your own, or get used to the CLI, whichever you think is the better route, take it.
