Found this the other day. It's a search engine that searches devices on the internet based on their http banners, it can be pretty useful. Of course the media's been playing it up as some evil hacker search engine because it's fairly easy to use it to find vulnerable devices, or ones using default passwords.

If your interested in how it works this defcon presentation is pretty informative. DefCon 18: Shodan for pentesting

Old as the internet, I still wouldn't use it myself. Seems too fishing if you ask me, brb let me just scan for other websites with your website then go attack them.

Yeah, I saw this awhile ago, it's cool. They also have an API. Evilbot uses the API, it's just "!shodan <x>" or "!exploitdb <x>".

But, yeah, it seems pointless. It's just attacking random sites. Although it can be fun to see what's out there.

Anyways, it's cool, but rather useless for (real) hacking.
