What language should I choose?

Can anyone here tell me what language would be best for this purpose?

1) To make an auto run program.
2) That would look after all my open connections with their ports .
3) Also generate a log file or keep a record of all the happenings (like the date and time when a connection is created and when it expired.)

I am a programmer in php. And understands the concepts of C, C++ and Java on basic levels.

I searched all over the net but mainly found some tweaks and softwares you need to buy. So I was looking one to create my self.

Any advice???

If you are using a linux/unix machine, a .sh script can probably do what you want to do.

Can this be achieved through a batch script??????
Or should I go with java........... because I understand it better than c or c++.

Also, is there a way if I code it in php. And convert it into other language using something like facebook>hiphop....????
But, I want something that works in windows...

Honestly, I would recommend you picking up a Linux distro and messing around with bash. But if you're dead set on using Windows, I'd say something like Perl. But that's just a personal preference. You could use Python or C or whatever you want really. If you want to progress in C, then go ahead and do it with C. If you wanna learn something new, try looking into Perl.

I don't think this is possible to do in php,I also code in PHP and as far as I know this is not possible to do,but I'm gonna search more about this and come back to you if I find out something.
Also if I was to chose to do this in a different language I would do it in Perl like mshred recomended.Perl has a similar syntax like PHP and it looks good to me . good luck

Ok. So I guess it has to be Perl then.
I have never tried doing anything in Perl b4. But I guess its the right time to begin with that. Thanks guys.

Eh, Perl's really useful but for this it might be trickier to implement on windows then a C or C++ program. Granted, C or C++ has a higher learning curve but it would possibly work better.

I'd suggest learning Perl but don't immediately expect to make this program. I'd start with obtaining some sort of copy of "Learning Perl" by Randal Schwartz
