Question, Is it breaking the law to bring down a site that is stealing from hard working honest people?

I'm not in the US, I'm in Scotland and I think I have a legitimate and moral right to stop this site from operating.
I'm grasping at straws hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.

Yes. That's like saying is it illegal to beat up a homeless man that was harassing you for change...

Can anyone tell me, show me or email me, how to take down my own website so I can put in place means to stop this happening in the future.

Is there any special software i need.

There are several sites dedicated to fighting scam artists. What you can do to prevent this from happening in the future is going to one of those sites and giving your story. Google "name of website scam" and you'll probably find results. Coincidentally, this is also exactly how you could have prevented this in the first place.

Yep. The first thing that comes to mind is that it may not even be there server especially when doing something like this. Yeah, the website is theirs but breaching the network they are on will have other ramifications if caught.

I'd be more worried about getting my 5 G's back instead of taking their website down.

I am going to stop the other from tripping themselves up, the only
thing you should be doing at this point is filing a complaint with the
Internet Criminal Complaint Center that is part
of US and international authorities, they are the logical, non-illegal
route to follow. Nobody can teach you to hack, it is an innate skill
that you are born with. Asking for tools and such without the proper
understanding of their intended use and consequences is asking for
trouble. Nobody here can even discuss such uses or consequences
as that activity itself is forbade in many countries. Best suggestion is
to try google and lots of research, otherwise you are setting yourself
up for a one-way trip to prison (regardless of country [Amsterdam excluded]).
