Phone Network Password

OK, I am a total newbie when it comes to phones and telecommunications, so please don't use fancy phone language.
In order to learn more about phone lines,I recently made a telephone "network" in my room. So heres my question: do I need some type of password to access my phone "network" remotely, or is that just impossible?
I have about five phones connected to my "network", and one computer's modem.
Please answer.

When you say network, what do you mean? What equipment, etc?

Oh I didn't read properly.
Hm that would be possible but you'd need to either do it via a computer and set up a forwarding server on your computer and use some pretty complicated software, or you'd need to do it by phoneline and invest in a switchboard. Then you could set up a password as well, but you wouldn't need one.
