GSM Phones

I was wondering, out of pure curiosity of course, if there was a way to track a gsm cell phone using a pc. if anyone has input all would be welcome.

(not sure if i posted in the right spot, if not apologies)

There was a 2600 article about this actually. It involved using one of those phone tracking sites (which require the permission of the phone user) and then spoofing a text message from that phone. May not be GSM though, I forget which now.

lmao thats funny cuz i came across that in the beginning of my search. thanks tho, i get the message. u dont have to exploit the fact im somewhat a noob still but im learning

I don't have much of a clue about mobile phones either, I admit. I'd get you a copy of that article but I don't have a scanner and can't seem to find any electronic copies of it.

I have found an app called mobile tracking system here http://www.eastmobiles.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=105:free-mobile-tracking-&catid=35:gps&Itemid=59 it worked for me.

The problem with that is that you have to download it to the phone you are trying to trace. It also looks a bit "sketchy".
