i don't know how popular this topic is these days i know it's pretty dated around where i live unless ur Arabic but if any one has any REAL information on the subject I'm very interested

I don't know much about phreaking, but I do know that on the old forums there were many threads about blue boxes, red boxes, black boxes, beige boxes, etc. Nowadays, you can't really get by with all of that; so I've heard.

I'm sure there are some phreaking out there right now (there almost always is), but so far no one has mentioned anything.

I would like to learn a little myself.

Been a long time since I heard of people doing this..... I guess if you go to some really, really small town somewhere IF they still have an analog switch (if any still exist) it might work. I doubt it though.

I remember reading a book on some phreak in California before. He rigged a lot of radio call in contests back in those days to win all kinds of prizes with his method. Here's an overview of it:
Phreaking

Im not really sure if i would consider "phreaking" dead but rather i would say it has been subsumed by "hacking" because almost all phones now have internet capability and many phone applications now use the internet to do things that used to be done over the phone service. For example i was "hacking" (more just lookin around) the "get it now" verizon server the other day. All of the communication for that service is done over the internet. So the question is: was i "phreaking" or "hacking"?
