LINUX ON ASUS COMPUTERS??

I've been curious as to why my ubuntu (while still running perfectly I might add ) does not want to use COMPIZFUSION, nor does it want to connect to the internet using a lan cable (wireless works pretty damn nicely though in its defense) when installed on my ASUS laptop. I found it strange since the ASUS seemed pretty amazing when it was running windows (had this whole shiny brand new sort of glow that makes one tingle with anticipation). Could it be something is up with the graphics card? I already ran a check and it seems that ubuntu is not recognizing the card, telling me it doesn't exist

Could anyone point out some good ways to fix this? Or at least share a story similar to mine so I don't feel so useless ;-;

I'm not sure, but I'd suggest checking the Ubuntu forums while you await a response here.

open a terminal and type: ifconfig
Come back and post the results here so i can see what were working with.

Also a dump of your current network configs would be useful aswell. So open another terminal and type: sudo cat /etc/network/interfaces
Post these results when yo come back as well.

In terms of the graphics card, you typically need to install the proper drivers to take full advantage of them. Look into EnvyNG: http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html

Urm... i have ubuntu on an asus laptop, and mine works fine. So i would count Asus as the sole problem.
