Viruses inject their code into other files. It's exactly like biological viruses which inject their DNA into cells and hijack the cell's various facilities. Obviously, that's where the name comes from.

Just to clear up some confusion:
fashizzlepop quoted something that was posted, but another mod had deleted. The quote is a Base-64 encoded string, which fashizzlepop decoded in his post. Why this person decided to encode his post, I will never know.
