My Mac has over 30 macro virues D:<

I need to get rid of these viruses without getting rid of the files. My mom went ballistic when I tried to tell her we had viruses. She insisted nothing was wrong, wouldn't look at the virus scan, and locked everyone out of all of the computer accounts. She's completely computer illiterate anyway. I'm trying not to be, and I've come quite a ways, but that's beside the point.

I need to know how to get rid of macro viruses without really doing anything to the files. I'm also running another virus scan as I type this. It says it's going to take over an hour...*sigh* I do not have time for this.

Last time I ran the virus scan, this is what I came up with:
w97m_generic (21)
wm_cap.a (15)
worm_nucrp.gen (2)
adw_renos (1)

I got rid of the last two (or rather, three (worm_nucrp.gen and adw_renos)) and was left with the 35 others, all of which were on my mom's files. I really don't know what to do with this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!! <3

Not familiar with Macs much but...

Try backing up the files then with your virus scan program get rid of them viruses. If you lose any data you have the backups in case.

Just an idea.

sounds like ur moms been making viruses
locate the files and and change their file type
like from .exe or .bat or what ever to .txt so they ar harmless
then inspect them

or forget it and let them be
the code for the void exception between the ear brackets
Code: Select all
public static }void(exception x = new exception(null)){

ok my brackets dont realy look like ears.
if you didnt get that it means there is nothing(no brains) between your ears.

You must be mistaken Macs don't get viruses or other malware; only Windows machines do.

Well, Linux gets less viruses because the majority of them are badly written and so target the C: drive. In Linux the C: drive is /. So they're just deleting nothing.

On Topic:
The ones you listed seem to only be designed for Windows PCs, so they shouldn't be causing any harm. Are you noticing any adverse effects on the Mac? The majority of them seem to be word macro viruses, which will not affect your computer. And they're classified as _generic, so it's possible that it's just flagging any doc file that has a macro on it. You probably don't have to worry unless you're getting popup's, computer is running slow, etc.

Off topic:

No no, I also believed that Macs didn't get virii. At least, that is what the people that use them have told me. I am coming to the conclusion that OP is trying to troll us. d:

Macs can get viruses. But like someone mentioned since most viruses are aimed at the Windows OSs Macs have FEWER viruses. (Not insulting you, just making my point)

Most of the time you won't encounter viruses on the Mac unless you are one of those people who
1. Are really gullible
2. Click on every ad in sight
3. Run unknown files all the time

Actually, if they are word macro viruses and he is using word...I don't see why it would NOT be able to attack a Mac.
