Hey everyone, recently got that stupid fbi virus website but it didn't lock up my computer it's just a website that won't allow me to close. I need help i've looked online about removing it but the only info I can find to remove is for windows 7 or 8. I run ubuntu 12.04. Could some please tell me what to do to remove this stupid thing belive me I'd rather not have that open forever.

What browser are you using?

If firefox, try running: sudo killall firefox

Also, a list of ps aux would be helpful to target the pid to terminate the process

The computer should be fine. Especially when there is a well known virus going around, odds are protection has been put into place for it. However, at the most, you may need to just reinstall the browser.

sudo apt-get purge firefox && sudo apt-get install firefox

I would also recommend that if this does occur again you check all processes on your computer before killing any just so you know where the virus is operating and also with what privileges. It is important that you know if it has root or another user's permissions.

Also, not sure if you're willing to put out some money but if you are still being bothered by the thought of lingering parts of the virus laying around check out eset nod32 antivirus for linux: http://www.eset.com/us/download/home/ It's at the very bottom.
