How do you make an encryption engine?

I'm just learning how to proggram, and I want to try to make an encryption engine. How would I go about doing it?

There is a magic site that can tell you all information about anything anywhere. It's something you can type a question in, and it will give you the answer to almost any question.

Look up various algorithms first. Start with the most basic (XOR or something) and work your way up (AES, DES, Blowfish, etc.).
