Rogers ZTE MF636 Modem

I have installed Ubuntu 9.10 and am trying to get my rogers ZTE MF636 Modem to work so that i can go online. I have googled around and found this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=7784945&postcount=26

unfortunatly i do not understand what is going on and i can't seem to get it to work. a little help would be greatly appreciated.
