Best *nix for hacking

I am incredibly surprised no one has mentioned Back Track. I think it is Slackware based and has many of the tools you need. The only bad thing about it is...well I can't think of one.

It's actually mentioned in the post directly above yours by fiftysixer and is one of the options to vote for (Slackware).

I am a freshman of HTS. And I just become the linux user.I just got little experience of linux(ubuntu) .so I wonder if ubuntu is good for hacking?

It all depends on what level of hacking you are doing. Cracking wep keys and manipulating websites....Ubuntu is fine....pentesting and stuff like that......Backtrack is good if you can get it to install (it has no easy click install button)
