Updating kernel offline in debian

I know you can update the kernel in debian with:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install linux-image-x.x.x-xx

but that requires apt, and thus requires an internet connection. I need the new kernel because support for the WNA1000M wireless dongle (the one I have) was added in that release.

I want to know how to download a updated kernel in windows, and install it in debian on my other hard drive (I dual boot.)

Any help would be great.

My setup:
2 HDDs:
1.) Windows XP SP3, wireless works fine
2.)Debian 6.0.6 (Squeeze), no wireless, but support was added in the more recent kernels.

Thanks,
3vilp4wn.

EDIT:
Ok, so I'm just gonna use wheezy. But if anyone knows how to do this, i would still like to know!

Well, you should just be able to head over to ftp://ftp.debian.org and down the kernel in windows. Just cd from debian and run dpkg -i <linux deb> right? Did you already try that?

Thanks, but I updated to wheezy, it uses the new kernel.
