How'd you guess?

Just a hunch.

f22 wrote:Yeah, the class was so easy that I would end up just sitting there half the class with nothing to do after finishing the work, and since everything was blocked and I was too lazy to bring in a flash drive every class, that is how I started amusing myself.

Ahh... so that was it.

I wonder, maybe we should have a batch script RPG design contest to pass the time. See who makes the best one, lol.

My idea involved returning to ANSI colors. The color command doesn't even come close to what ANSI colors are capable of.

That goes against the nature of batch scripts. Having people be capable of reading and editing it is part of it.

Batch scripts are the devil. Every command has its own unique and ridiculous quirks. If it doesn't work, move some quotes or parentheses around some. If that doesn't work, you will basically end up brute-forcing your code until you come up with a combination of characters that does. If it still doesn't work, a massive killing spree/suicide may be your only option to relieve the frustration.

Now that you're nice and psyched up about batch scripting, here is a good site to get started:

batch is generally used to automate things.. but can be used for many other things. You can make text based games, calculators, anagram solvers, or anything else you want, however; you are limited as not all things can be done in batch. The advantage of batch though is that you dont need a fancy compiler... just notepad. :)

Ahh, thanks. Does batch create fast shortcuts to things aswell then, seeing as i've noticed some that shutdown your pc when accessed..
Do you have a good place to start when looking at how to design batch files. I'm new to this whole scene and looking at getting started somewhere, anywhere in fact.
