Hotel Wifi, free, but not. Hackable?

Hi Guys,

So this will be my first official wifi hack attempt. I'm staying at a hotel that gives its guests free wifi.

This is achieved by a username and password, valid for 5 hours.

The wifi redirects all traffic through its proxy, making sure you log in.

If how ever, I ping something like google.com. I get a ip address back.
Does that mean that some limited traffic is being allowed?


Now its free anyway, so I don't feel bad about trying to get to use it with out the password n username. Does anyone have any suggestions?

It might only be filtering HTTP (port 80) traffic. You might be able to SSH out if you have a box at home you can connect to.

Wow, from an actual conversation to spoofing all over your paying mom in 4 posts. God, I love this place.

On a side note though, is there a way to block a specific computer on your wireless network? My uncle comes over every now and then and downloads a lot of shit on his laptop and watches too many youtube videos and porn and it takes up all my inturwebs speeds. It really ticks me off, but I don't wanna tell him off either coz he brings really nice stuff(like tequila ). Also, it's really awkward to ask you uncle to stop watching porn, let alone know that he does.

Very easy. Most routers and APs have a way to filter or restrict by MAC address. Look at your logs, find his MAC, and presto.
