guide me how to inable my on board wirelesscard atheros ar9285 i see in backtrack the card is passed... but when i type on teminal iwconfig no etc....what the different of my card? i think the driver is not installed im using Backtrack 5 r3


give me the command when i type this to install i got a file driver compat-wireless 3.6
tar -jxf filename_ng_driver.tar.bz2 igot error no on derictory? how can i load my software to install driver?the compat-wireless or the backport?

Clearly your English is poor so in order to help you better can you start typing out exactly what you have tried and the results? For example; what do you see when you run iwconfig? What do you see running airmon-ng?

Also... switch to Kali then try again. Kali is the 'new' backtrack.

root@bt:# iwconfig result

lo no wireless extentions.
eth0 no wireless extentions.

root@bt:~# tar -xf compat.tar.bz2 for extract error command how can paste my file on what derictory i got some error like this...how can i start? i download the correct driver but error meassage .. i use bt5-r3gnome-64.iso i put my file on destop folder
tar:error is not recorerable:exiting now
tar:compat-wireless-2.6.3.tar.bz2 cannot open: no such file directory
tar:exiting with failure status due to previous errors
tar:child returned status 2

cpu_man07, just post again instead of making edits. It makes things easier to follow. Are you new to linux by chance?
Did you download the file and where did you put it?

:lol: You are in the wrong directory. The Desktop is not your root home folder. cd to your Desktop first before trying to extract or move it to your home folder.
