There is definitely something I'm missing here. I copied the code to my local, fixed the syntax in the first line, and got it to output 1 on my local server by calling it in my web browser in a simple way. Then when I enter that as an answer, it's not accepted. Is there more than one solution?

Make sure you are using the relative path.

Well done. But (whether I'm just too tired or not) I don't really understand why did this work. Could anyone PM me explaining why did it ignore the (probably spoiler! highlight to read)-> validation-kinda (isset blahblahblah) stuff? I just don't get the clues, no matter how hard I look at the code. Still it is possible for me to be too tired to recognize the flaw...

Please tell me if I am on the right track...
The two parameters must equal no matter what their value is i.e nothing=nothign or 0=0 will do the job.
First, you do not know any email or name. Second, you must force the query to return a value that will equal to the submitted email.
The case is that you do not know any names, so most probably the query will return false...Is this correct?Am I approaching or am I far far away?

i get the idea. so we have to make the query to return null i.e. to return no email(a null value). that will occur when the user name we enter is not present in the database. only 1 user name is assured not to b in the database. v hv to enter that user name.
Am i right or wrong?
if it's a spoiler, sorry.

These ext basic missions make me angry with the way they test the answers... I can make it return 1 on my server easily but I can't find the exact answer that HTS is looking for. I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what the name is so that just leaves the relative path. I've tried ./ / and just vrfy.php without a prefix. What does it want? How about a general format? I learned already so that part is done, now show me the format HTS wants.

Nevermind I figured it out....
