Lookin to expand my learning.

Hey, I'm new to this site and was recommended to it by a friend because I want to start learning JavaScript and C++ I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on where to start? I know a few little basic tricks but I want to learn more of the serious stuff. If it helps, I'm very computer savvy except in the area of coding/scripting (obviously lol)....

Thanks in advanced for any help/tips you can offer! :D

Hi
Firstly, you should have put this thread in the general programming section, not in the HTS missions. Secondly, if you are new to coding, I wouldn't suggest C++. It's an advanced language, close to the hardware layer, so it's harder to learn. Javascript is not a bad choice, but if you want to be more serious, you should learn python. It can be used as a server-side scripting language, if you are into web-based stuff, but you can make any type of applications with it too.
Anyway, if you want to learn coding, you have to find your own sources. Learn to use Google. Search for beginner level tutorials, there are tons of them in eather languages. Or you can start with a book, try looking on torrent sites, you can find many programming books there. Finding your own sources will help you learn how to search for info later on.

Your friend was wise to refer you here, if you check the forums i'm sure you will find a modest amount of information on programming, especially javascript and C++. I hope you enjoy your stay, i will help a little more later in the day, although I'm in my lesson so I better go. Thanks anyway.

For anything web, including javascript and such, http://w3schools.org is a really good starting place. For c++ I would recommend http://cplusplus.com/ (the tutorial on the site is excellent). If you decide to start with something simpler, and quite awesome, like python, I would recommend http://www.diveintopython.org/toc/index.html as a great tutorial, and http://ipython.scipy.org/moin/ for playing around with the language. Like mentioned before, google is your friend, use it a lot. Programming sometimes takes a lot of patience, but its definitely worth is. Good luck!
